Im Verlauf der Geschichte wird es für gewissenhafte Menschen manchmal notwendig, die Stimme gegen den Missbrauch von Macht zu erheben. Dies sollte nur nach gründlicher Überlegung und unter Gebet geschehen und in einer Haltung der Demut und der Achtung der von Gott eingesetzten Autoritäten. Ein solcher Protest sollte in der Hoffnung geäußert werden, dass staatliche Behörden, die Rechte und Freiheiten aushöhlen, ihrer Verantwortung als deren rechtmäßige Hüter wieder gerecht werden mögen.

Einige besorgte Pastoren von verschiedenen Kontinenten haben sich aufgrund eines sich abzeichnenden Totalitarismus des Staates über alle Bereiche der Gesellschaft, einschließlich der Kirche, und der Besorgnis über die Missachtung gottgegebener und verfassungsmäßig garantierter Rechte während der Covid-Krise zusammengetan, um eine feierliche Erklärung zu verfassen, welche diesen Bedrohungen die zeitlosen Wahrheiten des Wortes Gottes entgegenstellen soll. Die folgenden, sich aus biblischen Prinzipien ableitenden Bekenntnisse und Verwerfungen legen wir allen Christen und den zuständigen Behörden zur Prüfung vor, in der Hoffnung, dass dieses Schriftstück Orientierung und Stärkung für ein treues Zeugnis für Jesus Christus in unserer Zeit geben wird.

Artikel 1 Gott, der Schöpfer, als souveräner Gesetzgeber und Richter

Wir bekennen, dass der dreieinige Gott – Vater, Sohn und Heiliger Geist – der persönliche Schöpfer aller Dinge, sichtbar und unsichtbar, ist, der heilige und alleinige Machthaber und der höchste Gesetzgeber für alles menschliche Verhalten. Wir glauben, dass Er in der Heiligen Schrift und im Gewissen der Menschen eine unveränderliche Moral offenbart hat, die in Seinem eigenen Charakter begründet ist und die für alle Menschen zu allen Zeiten definiert, was gutes und böses Verhalten ist. Als Gesetzgeber hat Gott einen Tag festgesetzt, an dem Er den Erdkreis richten wird in Gerechtigkeit durch einen Mann, den Er dazu bestimmt hat, den auferstandenen Herrn Jesus Christus. Ihm sei Ehre und ewige Macht! Amen.

Wir verwerfen die Annahme, dass unpersönliche Materie die letztgültige Realität hinter allen Dingen sei, sowie die Überzeugung, dass menschliches Verhalten ein rein biologisches oder soziologisches Phänomen sei. Da Gott der höchste Gesetzgeber und Richter ist, sprechen wir jeder weltlichen Autorität das Recht ab, zu definieren, was Moral ist, und von ihren Bürgern bedingungslosen Gehorsam zu verlangen, wenn dies im Widerspruch zu Seinem Gesetz steht. Artikel 2 Gott als Quelle der Wahrheit und die Rolle der Wissenschaft

Wir bekennen, dass Gott, der Schöpfer, die Wahrheit ist und dass es daher eine objektive Wahrheit gibt, die sich aus Seiner Offenbarung in der Heiligen Schrift und der Natur sowie aus allen Tatsachen, die glaubhaft nachgewiesen werden können, ableiten lässt. Wir befürworten eine Wissenschaft, die mittels wissenschaftlicher Methoden und Debatten die Wahrheiten zu entdecken strebt, die Gott in die natürliche Welt hineingelegt hat. Wir erkennen aber auch die Grenzen der Wissenschaft an, einschließlich ihrer Unfähigkeit, verbindliche Aussagen über Bereiche zu treffen, die außerhalb ihres Fachgebiets liegen, und ihrer Neigung zu Irrtümern, wenn es an Daten mangelt. Da der Mensch in Sünde gefallen ist, bekennen wir ferner, dass all seine Gedanken, Schlussfolgerungen und Institutionen einen Grad an Verdorbenheit aufweisen, der sie dazu geneigt macht, die Wahrheit zu verzerren, zu verfälschen oder zu unterdrücken.

Artikel 3 Der Mensch als Ebenbild Gottes

Wir bekennen, dass jeder Mensch im Ebenbild Gottes (imago Dei) geschaffen ist und daher ihm innewohnende Würde und Wert sowie bestimmte unveräußerliche Rechte und Freiheiten besitzt, die für ein angemessenes menschliches Leben erforderlich sind. Zu diesen Rechten und Freiheiten gehören das Recht auf gemeinschaftliche Gottesdienste, auf persönliche und zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen, auf eine berufliche Tätigkeit und auf Teilnahme an den wichtigen Ereignissen des menschlichen Lebens, wie etwa das Recht, Kranke und Sterbende (insbesondere der eigenen Familie) zu trösten, an Beerdigungen teilzunehmen, der Geburt des eigenen Kindes beizuwohnen, in einer öffentlichen Versammlung zu heiraten, Gemeinschaft zu
haben und gemeinschaftlich mit anderen Feste zu feiern sowie einer ehrlichen Arbeit nachzugehen. Wir bekennen auch, dass Regierungen anerkennen sollten, dass jeder Einzelne für sein eigenes körperliches Wohlergehen verantwortlich ist, und dass sie das Recht auf persönliche medizinische Selbstbestimmung zu schützen haben.

Wir verwerfen daher die entwürdigenden Handlungen einer staatlichen Behörde oder anderen
Einrichtung, eine Person psychologischer Manipulation und Einschüchterung zu unterziehen. Dazu gehört das Schüren von Misstrauen gegenüber anderen, indem man sie als potenzielle Bedrohung für das gemeinsame und individuelle Wohl darstellt. Wir wenden uns auch dagegen, dass der Staat seinen Bürgern medizinische Entscheidungen vorschreibt und Personen, die sich gegen die medizinische Politik ihrer Regierung entscheiden, kriminalisiert, zwangsweise ausgrenzt, beruflich benachteiligt und auf andere Weise entrechtet. Wir lehnen daher alle Formen medizinischen Zwangs und Einschränkung persönlicher Freiheiten für Menschen, die nicht mit einer ansteckenden, lebensbedrohlichen Krankheit infiziert sind, ab. Dazu gehören die Einführung von Impfpässen, sozialer Distanzierung oder Maskenpflichten als allgemeiner Voraussetzung für den Zugang zu öffentlichen Orten oder zur Teilnahme am Arbeits- oder Gesellschaftsleben. Artikel 4 Gott gegebene Aufgaben und Grenzen von Autorität

Wir bekennen, dass alle irdischen Autoritäten ihre Autorität („das Recht, Gehorsam zu verlangen“) von Gott ableiten, der über allem steht und vor dem alle Rechenschaft ablegen müssen. Wir glauben, dass Er ihre unterschiedlichen Zuständigkeitsbereiche (Mandate) festgelegt und dadurch auch ihrer Autorität Grenzen gesetzt hat. Gott hat den staatlichen Regierungen die Autorität verliehen, das Gute zu belohnen und das Böse zu bestrafen und die gottgegebenen Rechte und Freiheiten, die allen Menschen zukommen, zu schützen. Er hat auch der Kirche in ihren verschiedenen Ausprägungen die Autorität übertragen, insbesondere um alle Völker zu Jüngern zu machen durch die Predigt des Wortes Gottes und Gemeinschaften erlöster Gläubiger zu gründen und zu verwalten, die unter der Herrschaft Christi leben. Zudem hat Er der Familie als der Keimzelle der Gesellschaft die Autorität übertragen, den gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt und die sexuelle Treue zu fördern und Kinder zu schützen, zu versorgen, zu unterrichten und zu erziehen in den Wegen des HERRN. Wir bekennen unser Recht als Bürger, Eltern und Christen, unsere Überzeugungen und Verhaltensweisen auf der Grundlage dieser Wahrheiten frei selbst zu bestimmen.

Wir verwerfen daher totalitäre Ideologien von Regierungen, welche die Grenzen ihrer Autorität nicht anerkennen und die von Gott der Kirche oder der Familie übertragene Autorität an sich reißen. Insbesondere lehnen wir Tendenzen von Regierungen ab, die darauf abzielen, den Glauben und das Verhalten ihrer Bürger zu zentralisieren, indem sie eine autoritäre Gesellschaft schaffen, in der der Staat absolut ist. Ein solcher Totalitarismus und Etatismus beruht auf Anschauungen, die Gut und Böse sowie die Natur des Menschen grundlegend neu definiert haben und im Widerspruch zur göttlichen Ordnung der Dinge stehen. Solche Anschauungen haben zur Folge, dass persönliche Freiheiten im Allgemeinen und religiöse Freiheiten im Besonderen ausgehöhlt werden und eine ideologische Intoleranz erzeugt wird, die darauf gerichtet ist, Andersdenkende zum Schweigen zu bringen, sie aus dem Diskurs auszuschließen und umzuerziehen. Artikel 5 Christus als das Haupt der Kirche

Wir verurteilen daher alle Maßnahmen des Staates, die der Kirche Zwangsmaßnahmen auferlegen und ihre Aktivitäten, die als Dienst an ihrem Herrn getan werden, kriminalisieren, behindern oder reglementieren. Schließlich widersetzen wir uns der Entwicklung, digitale Plattformen in christlichen Gottesdiensten und Diensten zu einem Ersatz für die gemeinschaftlichen und persönlichen Dienste zu machen, die für unseren Glauben wesentlich sind.

Ein Aufruf zu Respekt, Buße und Widerstand

Wir sprechen denjenigen staatlichen Behörden unsere Anerkennung und unseren Dank aus, die das grundlegende Wesen dieser christlichen Überzeugungen und Praktiken respektieren und die persönlichen und religiösen Freiheiten aufrechterhalten. Die staatlichen Stellen, die diese Freiheiten missachtet haben, rufen wir auf, umzukehren und wieder zu Hütern der Freiheit und der Rechte zu werden, die Gott allen Menschen verliehen hat, damit sie sich nicht durch den Missbrauch ihrer gottgegebenen Autorität Gottes Zorn zuziehen. Denn der HERR, euer Gott, ist mit euch überall, wohin ihr geht.“ (Jos 1,9) Es erscheint möglich, dass die Welt in eine Zeit der Prüfung eintreten könnte, nicht nur für die Kirche, sondern für alle, die an die Freiheit glauben und sich der Tyrannei widersetzen. Lasst uns an der Seite derer stehen, die bedrängt, verhaftet oder gewaltsam isoliert werden, weil sie sich entschieden haben, das Rechte zu tun. As history progresses, it sometimes becomes necessary for conscientious people to speak out against abuses of power. This should be done only after careful thought and prayer, and with an attitude of humility and respect for God-appointed authorities. Such a protest should be voiced in the hope that state authorities that erode rights and freedoms may resume their responsibilities as their rightful guardians.

Due to looming state totalitarianism over all sectors of society, including the church, and concerns about disregard for God-given and constitutionally guaranteed rights during the Covid crisis, some concerned pastors from different continents have come together to compose a solemn statement, which is to counter these threats with the timeless truths of God's Word. We present the following confessions and condemnations, which are derived from biblical principles, to all Christians and the responsible authorities for examination, in the hope that this document will provide orientation and strengthening for a faithful witness to Jesus Christ in our time.

Article 1 God the Creator as Sovereign Lawgiver and Judge

We affirm that the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is the personal Creator of all things, visible and invisible, the holy and sole potentate and supreme lawgiver of all human conduct. We believe that He has revealed in Scripture and in people's consciences an unchanging morality, grounded in His own character, which defines good and bad behavior for all people at all times. As lawgiver, God has set a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through a man whom He has appointed, the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. To him be glory and eternal power! Amen.

We reject the assumption that impersonal matter is the ultimate reality behind all things and the belief that human behavior is a purely biological or sociological phenomenon. Since God is the supreme lawgiver and judge, we deny any secular authority the right to define what morality is and to demand unquestioning obedience from its citizens when doing so is contrary to His law. We also have valid reasons to question the ethical principles and moral conceptions of the modern state, since its secular humanism and relativistic ethics have no overarching basis for human behavior or morality.

Article 2 God as the Source of Truth and the Role of Science

We affirm that God the Creator is truth and therefore there is objective truth to be derived from His revelation in Scripture and nature and from any fact that can be credibly demonstrated. We advocate a science that seeks to discover, through scientific method and debate, the truths that God has placed in the natural world. But we also recognize the limitations of science, including its inability to make definitive statements about areas outside its area of ​​expertise and its propensity to err in the absence of data. Further, since man has fallen into sin, we confess that all his thoughts, conclusions, and institutions exhibit a degree of depravity that tends to distort, falsify, or suppress the truth.

We therefore reject the notion that human governments are morally and ideologically neutral, always knowing or seeking what is good for their citizens, and that their narratives should be trusted implicitly. We reject any kind of deception, fear-mongering, propaganda and indoctrination by the state and the mainstream media, as well as any hasty, selective or ideologically manipulative reporting on controversial issues of the time. We also reject claims of a so-called "scientific consensus" that abandons the scientific method and ignores or suppresses the objections of dissenters. Likewise, we reject scientism because scientific knowledge, even when correctly describing a given phenomenon, cannot adequately and normatively address complex social realities or prescribe policies that have ethical implications.

Article 3 Man in the image of God

We affirm that every human being is created in the image of God (imago Dei) and therefore possesses inherent dignity and worth and certain inalienable rights and freedoms necessary for decent human life. These rights and freedoms include the right to worship in a community, to personal and interpersonal relationships, to an occupation and to participate in the important events of human life, such as the right to comfort the sick and dying (especially one's family), attending funerals, attending the birth of one's child, marrying in a public meeting, 
having fellowship and celebrating festivals with others, and pursuing an honest job. We also affirm that governments should recognize that individuals are responsible for their own physical well-being and that they have the right to protect personal medical self-determination.

We therefore condemn the degrading acts of any governmental agency or other 
entity to subject an individual to psychological manipulation and intimidation. This includes fomenting distrust of others by portraying them as potential threats to the collective and individual well-being. We also oppose the government's dictating of medical choices to its citizens and the criminalization, forcibly segregated, occupationally disadvantaged, and otherwise disenfranchised of those who choose against their government's medical policies. We therefore reject all forms of medical coercion and restriction of personal freedoms for people who are not infected with a contagious, life-threatening disease. These include the introduction of vaccination cards, social distancing or mask requirements as a general requirement for access to public places or to participate in working or social life. We also reject global developments towards transhumanism and technological surveillance and control of people, as they undermine the human agency that is so fundamental to our God-given calling to live in His images.

Article 4 God-given Duties and Limits of Authority

We affirm that all earthly authorities derive their authority (“the right to demand obedience”) from God, who is supreme and before whom all are accountable.We believe that He established their different areas of responsibility (mandates) and thereby also limited their authority. God has given national governments the authority to reward good and punish evil and to protect the God-given rights and freedoms that are due to all human beings. He also gave authority to the church in its various forms, especially to make disciples of all nations through the preaching of the Word of God and to establish and administer communities of redeemed believers living under the lordship of Christ. He has also given the family, as the nucleus of society, authority to promote social cohesion and sexual fidelity, and to protect, nurture, teach, and educate children in the ways of the Lord. We affirm our right as citizens, parents, and Christians to freely determine our beliefs and behavior based on these truths.

We therefore reject totalitarian ideologies of governments that do not recognize the limits of their authority and usurp the authority conferred by God on the church or family. In particular, we reject government tendencies that aim to centralize the beliefs and behavior of their citizens by creating an authoritarian society in which the state is absolute. Such totalitarianism and statism are based on views that have fundamentally redefined good and evil and human nature and are contrary to the divine order of things. Such beliefs have the effect of eroding personal liberties in general, and religious liberties in particular, and creating an ideological intolerance aimed at silencing, excluding from discourse, and re-educating dissenters. We also oppose the notion that children are state property and thus subjects to be indoctrinated, and any encouragement or manipulation of children to undergo medical procedures without parental consent.

Article 5 Christ as the Head of the Church

We affirm that the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ belongs to Him at the price of His life and is accountable to Him alone in all matters of faith and practice. We believe that Christ's commandment to give to Caesar (ie, the state authorities) what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God establishes the Church's functional independence from the state. We believe that Christ, who is Lord of all, calls all without distinction to gather freely and regularly in His name in local churches to worship and serve Him in truth and love. We further affirm that the activities of the local church, in so far as they constitute essential acts of worship, are directed solely by Christ.

A call to respect, repentance and resistance

We express our appreciation and gratitude to those government authorities who respect the essential nature of these Christian beliefs and practices and uphold personal and religious freedoms. We call on governments that have violated these freedoms to repent and become once again the guardians of the freedom and rights that God has bestowed upon all people, lest they incur God's wrath by abusing their God-given authority. To those who want to force us to obey the secular state more than God, we say respectfully but firmly (like the three Hebrews who refused to worship the golden statue of Nebuchadnezzar): "We don't think it necessary to tell you a word to reply to that. The God we serve is able to deliver us out of your hand, and He will deliver us out of your hand. But even if He does not, let it be known to you that we will not serve your gods, nor will we worship the idols that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18)

To our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, we say: “Be strong and courageous! Don't be alarmed and don't be afraid! For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) It seems possible that the world could enter a time of testing, not just for the church but for all who are at believe in freedom and oppose tyranny. Let's stand with those who are being harassed, arrested or forcibly isolated for choosing to do what is right. Let us stand with those whose churches are being forcibly closed or who are being expelled from their communities. Let us help and give practical support to those who are being fined or losing their jobs for Christ's sake. And we ask our brothers and sisters who have lived under persecution all their lives to pray for us, that God give us the grace to bless those who persecute us and to pray for them; that God give us courage to stand firm in our faith as His witnesses; and that He, the Lord of all, give us strength to remain faithful and endure to the end. Amen.

Articolo 4 Doveri e limiti dell'autorità dati da Dio

Articolo 5 Cristo Capo della Chiesa

Un appello al rispetto, al pentimento e alla resistenza

Artículo 2 Dios como fuente de la verdad y papel de la ciencia

Afirmamos que la Iglesia del Señor Jesucristo le pertenece a Él al precio de Su vida y es responsable sólo ante Él en todos los asuntos de fe y práctica. Creemos que el mandamiento de Cristo de dar al César (es decir, a las autoridades del Estado) lo que es del César ya Dios lo que es de Dios establece la independencia funcional de la Iglesia del Estado. Creemos que Cristo, quien es Señor de todo, llama a todos sin distinción a reunirse libre y regularmente en Su nombre en las iglesias locales para adorarle y servirle en verdad y amor. Afirmamos además que las actividades de la iglesia local, en la medida en que constituyen actos esenciales de adoración, están dirigidas únicamente por Cristo.

Un llamado al respeto, al arrepentimiento y a la resistencia

Expresamos nuestro aprecio y gratitud a aquellas autoridades gubernamentales que respetan la naturaleza esencial de estas creencias y prácticas cristianas y defienden las libertades personales y religiosas. Hacemos un llamado a los gobiernos que han violado estas libertades para que se arrepientan y se conviertan una vez más en los guardianes de la libertad y los derechos que Dios ha otorgado a todas las personas, para que no incurran en la ira de Dios al abusar de la autoridad que Dios les ha otorgado. A los que quieren obligarnos a obedecer al estado laico más que a Dios, les decimos con respeto pero con firmeza (como los tres hebreos que se negaron a adorar la estatua de oro de Nabucodonosor): "No creemos que sea necesario decirles una palabra para responder a eso. El Dios a quien servimos puede librarnos de tu mano, y Él nos librará de tu mano. Pero aunque no lo hiciere, que sepáis que no serviremos a vuestros dioses, ni adoraremos a los ídolos que habéis levantado.” (Daniel 3:16-18)

A nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo alrededor del mundo, les decimos: “¡Sean fuertes y valientes! ¡No se alarme y no tenga miedo! Porque Jehová tu Dios estará contigo dondequiera que vayas.” (Josué 1:9) Parece posible que el mundo pueda entrar en un tiempo de prueba, no solo para la iglesia sino para todos los que creen en la libertad y se oponen a la tiranía. Apoyemos a aquellos que están siendo acosados, arrestados o aislados por la fuerza por elegir hacer lo correcto. Apoyemos a aquellos cuyas iglesias están siendo cerradas por la fuerza o que están siendo expulsados ​​de sus comunidades. Ayudemos y demos apoyo práctico a aquellos que están siendo multados o están perdiendo sus trabajos por causa de Cristo. Y pedimos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas que han vivido bajo persecución toda su vida que oren por nosotros, que Dios nos dé la gracia de bendecir a los que nos persiguen y orar por ellos; que Dios nos dé valor para mantenernos firmes en nuestra fe como sus testigos; y que Él, el Señor de todos, nos dé fuerzas para permanecer fieles y perseverar hasta el final. Amén.
